- In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water with 1 cup of sugar. Heat over medium-high heat until it comes to a gentle boil, stirring frequently until the sugar fully dissolves. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool for 5-10 minutes.
- In a large pitcher, pour in 4 cups of cold water along with the cooled simple syrup and freshly squeezed lemon juice. Stir thoroughly to blend flavors and adjust sweetness to taste.
- Slice fresh strawberries and gently crush them. Add strawberries and sliced lemons to the pitcher.
- Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 1 hour and up to 4 hours.
- Serve over ice, garnishing glasses with extra lemon slices and strawberries.
