Ingredients

For the Cheese Mixture
  • 6 strips Bacon Adds smoky flavor and crunch; consider using turkey bacon for a lighter touch.
  • 16 ounces Cream Cheese Provides a creamy base; make sure it’s softened for easy mixing.
  • 1/4 cup Sour Cream Adds tanginess and moisture; Greek yogurt can offer a healthier swap.
  • 1/2 cup Monterey Jack Cheese Offers mild flavor and smooth texture; try Pepper Jack for more heat.
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese Introduces sharpness; choose medium or sharp based on your preference.
  • 3 Jalapenos Brings necessary heat; remove seeds for a milder flavor or use canned for convenience.
  • 2 tablespoons Green Onions Adds freshness and mild onion undertones; substitute with chives if preferred.
  • 3 tablespoons Ranch Seasoning Elevates flavor with a zesty kick; feel free to use homemade ranch seasoning.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin Powder Adds earthy notes; simply omit if you’d rather skip it.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder Contributes savory depth; fresh minced garlic can be a tasty alternative.
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper Provides mild heat; adjust to your taste.
For the Coating
  • 3/4 cup Chopped Roasted Pecans Perfect for coating; they add delightful crunch; finely chopped pretzels make a great substitute.
  • 2 heaping tablespoons Chopped Flat Leaf Parsley For garnish; adds vibrant color; basil can give a different herby twist.
  • 3 strips Additional Bacon Crumble for coating; enhances the savory topping; optional for those who prefer less bacon.
  • 1-2 Sliced Jalapenos Optional for garnish; offers added heat and a pop of color for presentation.

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the crumbled cooked bacon, softened cream cheese, and sour cream. Mix in shredded Monterey Jack cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, finely chopped jalapenos, and chopped green onions. Add ranch seasoning, cumin powder, garlic powder, and ground black pepper. Blend until smooth and creamy, about 3-5 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together chopped roasted pecans, chopped flat leaf parsley, and the crumbled bacon reserved from Step 1. If desired, add more crumbled bacon. Set aside.
  3. Using your hands, scoop the cheese mixture and form it into a ball shape. You can use plastic wrap to help shape it cleanly.
  4. Roll the cheese ball in the coating mixture, pressing gently to adhere well. Continue until fully covered.
  5. Wrap the cheese ball tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld.
  6. Before serving, remove from the refrigerator and let sit at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes.
