Method

Step-by-Step Instructions for Chocolate Chip Loaf Cake
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 loaf pan and optionally line the bottom with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, sift together 2 cups of plain flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together 1/2 cup of butter and 1 cup of sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add in 2 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Follow with 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  5. Gently incorporate half of the dry ingredient mixture, then add 1/2 cup of whole milk and the remaining dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Toss 1 cup of chocolate chips in a sprinkle of flour to coat them and fold them into the batter carefully.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 45-55 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
