  • 1 lb Chicken Breast boneless, skinless
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda optional
  • 1 tsp Salt to taste
For the Marinade and Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Fresh Orange Juice freshly squeezed
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce low-sodium recommended
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Black Pepper or white pepper
  • 2 tbsp Cornstarch for thickening
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 tsp Ginger minced
  • 1 tbsp Rice Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Chili Garlic Sauce optional
  • 1 tbsp Orange Zest
  • 1/2 tsp Red Chili Flakes optional
  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar or honey/coconut sugar
For Cooking and Garnishing
  • 2 tbsp Oil canola or avocado
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Seeds for garnish
  • 2 stalks Green Onions sliced for garnish
For Serving
  • 2 cups Cooked Rice or cauliflower rice for low-carb
  • 2 cups Steamed Broccoli for a side

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium bowl, combine chicken with baking soda, salt, orange juice, soy sauce, black pepper, cornstarch, minced garlic, and ginger. Marinate for at least 10 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together remaining orange juice, soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili garlic sauce, cornstarch, orange zest, minced garlic, ginger, red chili flakes, brown sugar, and salt until smooth.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat with oil. Add the marinated chicken, cooking until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes on each side.
  4. Pour the orange sauce over the cooked chicken, stirring gently to coat. Cook uncovered for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Serve the Healthy Orange Chicken over rice with steamed broccoli, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions.
