Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, combine ground beef with diced onion. Cook for 6–8 minutes until the beef is browned and onion is translucent. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir in cheddar cheese soup, pickle relish, ketchup, and yellow mustard into the skillet. Cook for an additional 3–4 minutes until creamy.
  4. Transfer the cheesy meat mixture into the greased casserole dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  5. Arrange frozen tater tots in neat rows on top of the cheese layer.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes until tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
  7. After 35 minutes, remove the casserole and sprinkle an additional cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top. Return for another 5 minutes until melted.
  8. Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with lettuce and tomatoes if desired.
