Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Sear the beef stew meat or chuck roast until a deep brown crust forms. Remove and set aside.
  2. Sauté minced garlic and grated ginger until fragrant.
  3. Prepare the braising liquid by adding soy sauce, water or beef broth, brown sugar, and rice vinegar, then simmer.
  4. Nestle the seared beef into the braising liquid and cover to braise for 2½ to 3 hours.
  5. Whisk together cornstarch and cold water for a slurry, then thicken the sauce and return the beef.
  6. Serve over cooked white rice and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
